Mark Wharry, PE Promoted to Portland Office Managing Principal
 Mark Wharry has been promoted to the Managing Principal for our Portland office. In this role, Mark is responsible for ensuring quality and responsive service to Winzler & Kelly’s clients and providing leadership for our staff as we continue to grow and expand the depth and breadth of our services. Our Portland office provides planning, design, and construction-related services for environmental, industrial, educational and public works projects.
Mark infuses his new role with design engineering and project management experience developed over 25 years of delivering site civil and utility engineering projects. He is a Professional Engineer registered in the civil and environmental specialties in Oregon, in civil engineering in Washington, Idaho, Hawaii and New Mexico and is a LEED® Accredited Professional. Mark is a recognized expert in water in water resources and fish screening and passage facilities and is appointed to the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife’s Fish Screening Task Force. Mark is an avid fly-fisherman, spending his spare time enjoying the natural environment that his work enhances. He and his wife also enjoy cultivating their small vineyard and orchard.
Don Whitehead, PE Joins us as Infrastructure Service Line Leader
 Don Whitehead has joined Winzler & Kelly as the Infrastructure Service Line Leader in our Portland office. His experience and passion for the engineering profession will add to and expand the services of the talented Portland team.
Don is a Professional Engineer registered in the civil and environmental specialties in Oregon, and civil engineering in Washington. During his 22 years of years of experience, he has led a wide range of civil and water resources engineering efforts with an emphasis on large public works projects. His background includes planning, design and project management for state parks, transit facilities, street improvements, storm water facilities; floodway improvements; and municipal water, wastewater treatment and pump stations. His communication skills and experience in the area of public speaking are an asset to projects that require consensus building, public participation, and multidisciplinary teams. In additional to project and technical expertise, Don brings 17 years of leadership experience developing teams and mentoring other professionals.
Depending on the season you are likely to find Don pursuing his lifelong passion for skiing or climbing in the Oregon Cascades. Don and his wife enjoy being parents of two young adult sons.
