Winzler & Kelly provides on-call environmental planning and permitting services for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Under this contract, our staff provides support in a range of activities that includes assisting with project scoping, developing CEQA compliance strategies, preparing Environmental Impact Reports, interagency coordination including development of appropriate mitigations for potential impacts to threatened and endangered species, project permitting, and public information and outreach.

This work takes place throughout the State of California and our most recent assignment is development of the CEQA document for a 128 bed intermediate care mental health facility at Salinas Valley State Prison in Monterey. This assignment requires particular attention to project scheduling and coordination with the design team in order to assure that CDCR meets its mandated commitments for the completion of this facility.
